[There's something incredibly disconcerting about watching a reliable person fall apart.
...Kairi's with Riku, and he should probably give Sora space--it's what he'd want, himself--but. After everything Sora did for him, he can't simply sit back and watch him break.
So, slowly, he approaches at an angle that Sora can see. When he's close enough, he reaches out to lay a hand on Sora's arm.
Nothing he could say can make this better, so for the time being, he stays silent.]
[he doesn't entirely expect it, so he jumps a little when he feels leo's hand on his arm. he doesn't know what to say either, and he's not exactly breathing himself because he's working on pulling himself together. when he does get a grip on himself though, he sort of sighs without looking up.]
This wasn't supposed to happen. [he says, because he knows how leo's responded to death before.]
[Yeah, that wasn't the best first impression, was it? But it's a far cry from how he is now, as if he's stepping into the role of the calm one, the grounding presence. It isn't that he isn't affected by this, because how could he not be? But--well. He knows what this is like.
Sora doesn't have to keep it together. It would be cruel to ask him to, in Leo's opinion. He and Sei can handle their pain--for Leo's part, it's the least he can do for them, even if it can't ever be enough.]
I know. [Quietly, calmly.] ...We will fix this.
[You can do this, in a way--but he isn't going to put that kind of pressure on Sora and Kairi's shoulders alone.]
[if he wasn't so scattered and gutted he might have enough of a braincell to think that this is the nicest leo's been to him since they got here. but instead, he only hears the words and he thinks them over.
there's no other option. they're going to fix this, and this is going to become everyone else's problem. there's no way they'll leave riku behind.]
We have to. [it's quiet, but firm. fixing it is all they can do now.]
[Don't think about him being nice too, much, Sora, it's not actually a good thing.
For a moment, once again, he looks like he's listening to something else--and he breathes in like he intends to speak again, but the words don't come. Instead, he just squeezes Sora's arm, then steps away to let him burn his rage out against the door.]
